Sherlock
Hunt down social media accounts by username across social networks
Sherlock, is an open-source intelligence (OSINT) tool designed to help users gather information about a specific person across various social media platforms and websites. It was created by a developer named Siddharth Dushantha. The tool can be used in Recon stage to gather social media information about the person, but what if different individual use the same username in social media websites?
Further analysis is required in this case. So, let’s say I’m using the username ‘Skyes’ for my OSINT mission. Now, I know Skyes is all about Minecraft and not into coding stuff. That means we can skip checking out some websites ‘cause they won’t be relevant.The approach can involve conducting a comprehensive check or understanding the context to narrow down the outcomes. It is also worth noting that certain websites, such as Discord, appear to be absent from the results.
Installing Sherlock
I have created a github repository in my document that contains all the repository that I use to try, learn or experiment on.
Command to install sherlock repository:

# clone the repo
$ git clone https://github.com/sherlock-project/sherlock.git
# change the working directory to sherlock
$ cd sherlock
# install the requirements
$ python3 -m pip install -r requirements.txt
Testing Sherlock
One user
For testing a username I decided to chose SKYES(a minecraft youtuber).
The outcome of this shows the problem I have previously discussed, we have more than 1 indvidual using the same username in different websites
